Here’s a quick overview of the improvements:
In Brief
Using AMS Grid significantly improved Impact Global Health’s data management.
Now, the team can:
• Change information directly on the screen
• Sort data quickly
• Make custom views easily
This new system saves them lots of time on paperwork. Because of this, IGH can spend more time on what really matters – helping people’s health around the world.

Who are Impact Global Health?

Impact Global Health exists to ensure that life-saving health innovations reach the people who need them most, faster.
By accelerating the development of biomedical breakthroughs, they help build a healthier, more equitable world.
IGH does this by providing the analysis, tools and evidence needed so that R&D funders, advocates, innovators and product developers can make informed, impactful decisions that accelerate the delivery of life-changing solutions for those who need them the most.
By equipping stakeholders with the right insights and connections, IGH helps turn investments into real impact.
The Data Management Challenge
Before implementing AMS Grid, IGH faced significant challenges with their data management system
- Difficulty in moving columns or editing data directly.
- Clunky filtering and sorting processes.
- Needing to export data to Excel to manage it
The complex nature of the data meant that the standard list view of the data was very restrictive and to limit things further, the team could not move columns around or make in-line edits.
Also, the filtering and sorting functions were limited and clunky.
This meant that the team often had to resort to exporting data into Excel in order to manage it.
Consequently, this wasted hours each week for the team as they often had to switch screens to carry out simple tasks.
Below is an example of the layout before the AMD Grid was implemented.

Original layout of data before using AMS Grid
What were the issues?
- Team need to manually export to Excel to manage the data
- Filter and sorting functions limited
- Standard list view very restrictive
- Team could not move columns or make in-line edits
- Hard to maintain data accuracy
What are the improvements?
- Direct data editing within the grid
- Easy column movement
- Improved sorting and filtering
- Data grouping capabilities
- Custom view saving
The Solution
To address these issues, we implemented AMS Grid, a tool that integrates easily with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
As in the example below, AMS Grid makes Dynamics 365 work more like a spreadsheet.

It lets users change data right on the screen, move columns around easily, and sort information quickly.

One of its best features is the pivot mode, which helps make sense of lots of data at once.

With AMS Grid, IGH staff can now make their own custom views, send data to other programs without fuss, and look at their information in new ways without leaving Dynamics 365.
This tool not only makes managing data easier but also helps the team analyse their data more easily.
Key Features of AMS Grid:
- Direct data editing within the grid
- Easy column movement
- Improved sorting and filtering
- Data grouping capabilities
- Custom view saving
Project highlights
Here are some key aspects of the improvements:
Smooth Setup: The implementation process was smooth and efficient. IGH could see progress and provide feedback through tools like Jira.
“The project implementation process was clear and straightforward.”
Omotola Olufemi, Analyst
Pivot Mode: A standout feature was the pivot mode, which allowed IGH to reorganise and analyse large datasets quickly and efficiently.
“The pivot mode functionality was an unexpected but powerful feature that allowed uses to reorganise and summarise large datasets. The dynamic cross-tabulation and aggregations in pivot mode allows users to analyse their data from multiple perspectives quickly and efficiently.”
Omotola Olufemi, Analyst
Enhanced Data Entry: Staff can now edit information, move columns, and sort data directly on the screen.
Improved Quality Checks: Reviewing disease profiles is now quicker and easier.
Custom Views: Users can create and save personalised data views.
Simple Data Export: Data can be easily exported to Excel or CSV files with a right-click.
Results
As a result of implementing AMS Grid, IGH has seen significant improvements.
- Smoother workflows.
- Easier data input and review.
- Versatile use for tasks ranging from data entry to complex analysis.
- Improved data accuracy.
- Tasks that took hours, now take minutes.
AMS Grid has markedly improved IGH’s data management across several key areas.
The team now works with smoother workflows and finds data input and review much easier.
Also, the system’s versatility means it’s useful for a wide range of tasks, from basic data entry to in-depth analysis.
Furthermore, data accuracy has improved, and the team has seen a significant reduction in the time needed for data-related tasks.
Best of all is that what used to take hours can now be completed in minutes, allowing IGH staff to dedicate more time to their core mission of improving global health.

View of AMS grid
“Users now employ the grid for various purposes, including data entry, quality checking and high-level data reviews, research, analysis, and more.”

Conclusion
In summary, AMS Grid has transformed IGH’s data management, allowing them to focus more on their mission of improving global health. While there’s always room for refinement, the improvements have made their work much more efficient.
‘‘The AMS team focused on our technical needs, taking time to understand our requirements, some of which were ad-hoc, and provide detailed feedback and solutions.”
