Do I have to upgrade Dynamics?
- Yes, you could continue to use your old version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM. If you know the system well, you might be able to keep it maintained. But, once Microsoft stop releasing fixes for the product, you stand a greater chance of having security problems, or failures.
- Microsoft sets limited lifespans for their products and depending on your version you'll soon not be able to get support for your product.
- If your version of dynamics isn't supported anymore, you'll miss out on useful product upgrades

How long will it take to upgrade to Dynamics 365?
The upgrade takes more time the older your system is
You can only upgrade one version at a time.
So for example, to get from CRM 2013 to Dynamics 365 you’d have to first upgrade to 2015, then 2016 and finally Dynamics 365
Is this an opportunity to make improvements?
If your system hasn’t been updated in a while, and your processes and business needs have changed, you should consider a rebuild. In some cases this could take less time than a complex upgrade, and then, at the end, you have a system fit for your current needs
- A simple upgrade can take just a couple of days
- Most upgrades take place over a 2 week period
- Larger system rebuilds can be staged over a number of milestones and can take 2 months or more.
What about Licencing?
- If you're upgrading from Microsoft Dynamics CRM on-premise, then you'll need to purchase add-on cloud licences.
- Dynamics 365 is a subscription service. You pay on a per user, per month basis for most services. You may well save money on licences after you upgrade.
