Your Microsoft licence prices are changing
Microsoft is moving to fixed term subscriptions for its Office 365 (Microsoft 365) and Dynamics 365 products.
What does this mean?
For each subscription you have, such as Dynamics 365 Sales Professional, or Microsoft 365 Business Standard, you’ll need to commit to either a monthly or annual contract, with no flexibility to decrease licence numbers mid-term. Licence numbers can be increased mid-term. The monthly contract is 20% more expensive. They’re calling this the New Commerce Experience (NCE)
When will this happen?
Renewal dates differ for each customer, based on when you first started paying for each subscription. For example if you started Business Standard in June and Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise in September, you will have different renewal dates for each subscription.
Microsoft are offering a promotional 5% discount for one year from renewal for most annual subscriptions.

What’s next?
Please review your recent licencing invoice in terms of the number of users you have for each subscription (a list of the commonly used subscriptions is provided below for reference).
We will also email you individually to notify you of your current subscription renewal date
FAQs
Can I stay on a monthly contract?
Yes, if you need the flexibility of a monthly contract term, the price Microsoft charge will increase by 20% in July 2022.
What if I have fixed term employees or temporary staff?
Please see the question below on “Can I mix and match annual and monthly subscriptions?”
Can I mix and match annual and monthly subscriptions?
Yes. You can mix and match with monthly and annual contracts for the same product. Please get in touch if you want to mix and match licences. For example if you have a continuous workforce of 20 and a temporary team of 5 which regularly changes, using Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise as an example, you could have 2 subscriptions. The first subscription would be for 20 x Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise Annual, the second subscription would be for 5 x Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise Monthly.
Can I change the number of licenses in my subscription?
You can increase the license count at any time. Reducing the number of licences can only be done within the first 72 hours of purchase (includes weekends and holidays)
What happens when a subscription term ends?
The subscription will automatically renew for another term, and the license count in place at the time of the renewal will carry forward into the next term. You will have a 72 hour window to make changes in.
Any promotional prices from the previous term will end, and you will move to the standard list price for your subscription type.
Can I cancel my subscription mid-term?
You can cancel a subscription mid term, but you must still settle the balance for the time left. There are no refunds.
I need flexibility to add and remove licences
The best way to keep flexibility and lower costs, is to mix annual and monthly licences. It’s an individual choice, but mixing in the ratio of 80:20 in favour of annual contracts is a good start.
